Happy campers

"We want to thank you for the outstanding service we received in our recent cross country move from California to Virginia. We had contacted several national movers trying to find the most inexpensive way to transport our five-bedroom home. We have in the past used professional movers and found their cost prohibitive in this move. We were not wanting to use a do-it-yourself service such as U-Haul® because of the long distance drive. With that we elected to search out a national company to transport our furniture. We have used such a company in the past and found them to be very cost effective.
This time, instead of just calling ABF®, the same company I used last time(and had damage), I decided to shop around a little. In doing so I found 4 companies that provided this service:

ABF U-Pack®
Box Trotters™
Value Moves™
Movex™

Of the 4 companies I contacted and got detailed responses from, I was surprised by how much I saved with Box Trotters™. Each company was $600 - $2000 dollars more in their prices than Box Trotters™. Not only did I save thousands of dollars, but I also felt like someone was concerned and in charge of my container while out of my possession.

Less than 10 days after loading, my 48' long container arrived as promised and upon opening the back doors I was excited to find, after 3 thousand miles, none of the furniture broken, nor had the load shifted. The phones were always attended, the drivers were very polite and picked up the container on time.

Once again, thank you Box Trotters for your dedicated and professional services you provided. We will recommend and use your service in the future.

Our Primary Service Aim: Reducing and eliminating damage risk.

As you shop around for the rock bottom prices, keep in mind that there can be hidden costs in your transaction that some service providers fail to talk about that is, damage. Cheapest may not really be cheaper if you make the wrong choice of service method.

Consider these examples of our low and no damage results sent in from our customers.

Intermodal Railroad Shipping: A Bad Ride or a Bad Rap? Why don't you be the judge?

Consider that a train:

-is the most fuel-efficient form of ground transport
-is 3 or more times more fuel efficient than trucks
-can transport 1 container on top of another, transporting 2 for the cost of 1
-can transport the equivalent of 500 trucks
-Has vibration levels of less than half of an over the road truck.
-Transports 1 ton of freight 483 miles on 1 gallon of fuel.

Dear Sir or Madame:

We want to thank you for visiting our website and considering our products and services for the relocation of your business or personal property. We are most appreciative of your visit and want you to know that we are here to be of assistance in trying to save not only your hard earned money, but also your piece of mind in what most professionals rank as the second or third most stressful event of life, behind death of a spouse or divorce.

As you tour our website, you'll find that we provide several innovative strategies and services all aimed at reducing costs and helping you save time, labor and driving in long distance relocation challenges.

One of the services we provide, that we are proud of, is our One Way Intermodal Container by railroad service.

We know that you may be talking to a lot of different sales people as you shop for your services. We have found that not all sales personnel know their stuff or, they may know too much about the service they sell. You've also got to realize they they are partial and bias to the service they sell and the bosses they have to please. We ask that you be patient with their canned sales pitches, overlook their shortcomings, be patient with their lack of knowledge and understanding of the control they are under! We certainly are!

And of course, if they provide their services by truck, they probably, 1, don't have a clue of the value of railroad service and 2., are only trying to sell you on their method and their company.

What we ask you to consider here is not necessarily the company but we ask you to consider the method. Truck or railroad service! Which is better? We know that you are smart enough and resourceful enough to gather your own findings, so we simply want to suggest that you consider expanding your options to include railroad for your service.

This is a keystone service that we have provided for a number of years to countless customers. Its success in terms of providing high quality service at a lowest cost with the lowest damage results, speaks for itself. We have moved countless customers thousands of miles coast to coast with reports of only minor damage or no damage at all. Of the customers who reported damage, most of them admitted that they did not use enough padding or they probably did not load as well as they could have or should have.

If you will conduct some research on the companies you are considering as your service provider, by simply going to Google®, typing words such as, (The service provider name) and words, such as, "Bad Service" or "Complaint" or "Damage" you should find some comments posted by some of their previous customers, expressing their dis-satisfaction with the service, primarily damage. Some postings you'll even find photos. What we have found in a lot of these postings is that the damage may not necessarily be due to the company they chose to provide service but the method the service provider uses.

Our research has found that these companies that provide their services in truck trailers, which numerous studies indicate, technically place their customer's valuables at a higher risk of damage, compared to our intermodal container by railroad service. These studies have been conducted by numerous independent testing firms, using the highest standards including repeated studies. Our Container By Rail Intermodal service, provided by North America's premier railroad carriers, Norfolk Southern® and CSX® East of the Mississippi and Union Pacific® and Burlington Northern Santa Fe® West of the Mississippi, compared to some service providers who use trucks, should speak for itself. And the further the distance on a truck, the greater the damage risk due to the high vibration and shock levels as the truck rolls across our highway systems greatly in need of a total maintenance overhaul.

If the service provider provides service with a truck that will be bouncing over many highway and bridge seams, bumps and potholes, the further the distance, the more seams, bumps and potholes your valuables will be subjected to. This is easy to understand since America's infrastructure, bridges and highways, is in its worst shape in many years. Consider the collapse of the I35W bridge in Minneapolis, MN in 2007! If you drive over highways to work every day you know the state of the roads. Now consider that the truck that will be carrying your valuables will be traveling over many miles of this, vibrating and bouncing your hard earned valuables.

We know that even these words may be a mouthful and to understand how the service works can be even more challenging, but if you will take your time to understand how and why it works so well, you will see that there are tremendous benefits for both its financial and environmental cost savings. We want you to find out for yourself if intermodal railroad shipping is a bad ride or a bad rap!

But don't Take Our Word For It, Consider the test results found in this report.

The proof is in the payout - lower loss and damage claims indicate safer operations of freight and intermodal services

How Our Intermodal Container By Railroad Service Works:

1. Service includes ALL costs, including taxes and fuel surcharge and our formal quotes include these itemization.

2. Service is Door to Door. This means our drivers deliver and pick up to and from your loading and unloading location(s). Due to security and liability issues, the general public is restricted from railroad ramps and port terminals.

3. Customer is responsible for securing the loading and unloading locations. The location(s) must be secure and accessible. The customer must have permission for our drivers and commercial equipment to have legal access. Customer must check the driver route and check to make sure there are no weight restrictions for truck. (This needs to be carefully checked in rural locations.)

4. Service is based on Full Container Service only. The service is not available on a "Per Foot" rate. (This is the most secure method is shipping property.)

5. Service quotes are quoted with both driver waiting for loading or unloading OR drop off for 48 hours or a weekend for loading. Weekends are not guaranteed for unloading but we will work with you if your container arrives and it is available for weekend unloading at destination.

6. Detaining equipment or driver beyond the quoted amount, will increase costs for rental.

7. On services where the driver waits while you load or unload, the standard quote includes up to 4 free hours standy time loading and 2 free hours unloading time. A per hour or fractional hour charge will be applied and the rate is included in the quote itemization.

8. With this service, the container is delivered out on a chassis, a trailer and left on the trailer for loading and unloading. The container is not placed on the ground with this service. A ramp will be provided for free to you with this service and is delivered out to you a few days before the container delivery for loading. A ramp is not located inside the container or mounted to the container.

9. According to federal regulations, a wooden bulkhead wall is required to be installed at the rear of the property once the container is loaded. This simply wooden wall is assembled with minimal skill and tools. We provide the materials for this requirement with the detailed step by step instructions.

10. Storage and Long Term Rental:
Generally, our One Way service is just that. We can usually provide very competitive rates on some lanes, however, the equipment must be emptied as soon as it reaches its destination.

11. Security:
One of the most important features of our service is the security of our customer's property. Our services are more secure for several reasons. 1. No other property is mixed in with our customer's property. You have exclusive use of the container. 2. The whole container is sealed with a numeric seal and the number is recorded and signed off on by both driver and customer. 3. Drivers backgrounds are thoroughly checked and they are registered in a database maintained by the Department of Homeland Security. 4. On the train, the containers are stacked. The bottom container is flush up against the back of a steel car, making the door opening physically impossible. The container stacked up on top of the bottom container is out of reach.

Thank you for you attention to these matters. If you have any further questions or need more clarification, please call us at: 843-381-0596. Thanks
